Under the Same Stars (Ulluriat ataanittuinnait), a collection of images from Canada’s North

"Full Moon, February"

The Embassy of Canada will host Under the Same Stars, a photography exhibit by Fulbright Canada grantee, Acacia Johnson. Photographed during her four month residence on the north shore of Baffin Island, this community-focused perspective provides an intimate glimpse of life in the Canadian Arctic.

Originally from Alaska, Johnson is a recent graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and is now based somewhere between Norway and the polar seas. Using a large-format view camera and color film, she has pursued projects across Alaska, Iceland, northern Scandinavia, Greenland and the Canadian Arctic. She has exhibited her photographs internationally and has pieces included in collections at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum and the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

Under the Same Stars is curated by National Geographic photo editor Kim Hubbard.

The Embassy will host this exhibit from September 16, 2015 until January 29, 2016.
Due to popular demand the show has been extended for another two weeks, until February 12,2016.

The Embassy of Canada art gallery is located next to the Newseum, at 501 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Open to the public: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.
